Wanda M. Pritchett passed away peacefully at the home of her son, Garry Pritchett, on Saturday, January 11, 2014.
She was born on January 8, 1919 in Firth Idaho. The sixth of 8 children of Henry J. and Truessa L. Lords, Wanda was the last surviving member of her family.
She attended school in a small two room schoolhouse in Kimberly, Idaho. The family moved to Mackay, Idaho when she was in her late teens.
Wanda met her future husband, Henry W. Pritchett while living in Mackay and they were married on June 13, 1938. To this union were born two sons Sherden H. and Garry L and daughter Mara Dawn Joy.
The family lived in Idaho Falls until moving to Pocatello in 1949. Wanda and Henry moved to Portland, Oregon in 1974 when Henry transferred while working for the P.F.E. railroad. They returned to Pocatello in 2002 to be closer to family due to health concerns.
Wanda was a talented seamstress and enjoyed sewing, for her family members and friends. She sewed exquisite doll clothes that were very popular with children and collectors. She sewed nightgowns and caps for premature babies and donated them to a hospital in Portland, Oregon as well as the Portneuf Medical Center. She also loved to read novels. She enjoyed reading the local newspaper to keep up with current events.
She is survived by her son, Garry L. (Melba) Pritchett; daughter, Mara Dawn Joy (Bruce) Hedlund and daughter-in-law, Sue Pritchett; grandchildren, Steve (Rindy) Pritchett, Tammy Irby, Sean (Sheri) Pritchett, Crystal and Sheryl Hedlund; step-grandson, Daniel (Amanda) Anderson, step-granddaughter, Stephanie Anderson; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
The family acknowledges her close friend, Sue Christensen, whose visits brought a ray of sunshine into her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband Henry, her oldest son Sherden, and two grand children, Christopher R. Hedlund and Jeremy M. Pritchett.
Graveside Memorial Services will be held Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Norton Cemetery in McCammon, Idaho. Graveside services are under the direction of Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave.
