Lehi, Utah - Wanda Mae LaMothe, 90, longtime resident of Pocatello, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2009 at an assisted living center in Lehi, Utah from cause incident to age. Several family members were at her side.
She was born October 28, 1918 in Oakley, Idaho, a daughter of Wilford and Mae Katurah Read DeLaMare. She started school as a young girl in Oakley and then her family moved to Pocatello where she continued her schooling, graduating from Pocatello High School.
On June 16, 1938 she married Richard A. LaMothe in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on May 5, 1959. She worked for a while at Dr. Henry West's Chiropractic office and then went to work for Pocatello School District #25 as an office secretary, first at Franklin Jr. High and then at Alameda Jr. High where she retired after many years.
She was an active member of the L.D.S. Church where she served in several callings over the years including Young Womens President, Relief Society President, Primary Secretary and visiting teacher. She was a member of Epsilou Sigma Alpha, Chi Chapter. Wanda and Richard played bridge and square danced when they were young. She enjoyed cooking (she was the best) gardening and reading. Her greatest joy was her children and her grandchildren and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by 5 sons, Ronald C. (Ann) LaMothe, Kearns, Utah; Michael D. LaMothe, Redmond, WA.; Blair D. LaMothe, Kirkland, WA.; Kevin, M. (Julie) LaMothe, Meridian, Idaho; Greg F. LaMothe, Boise, Idaho; a daughter, Annette (Gerald) Brower, Orem, Utah; 3 sisters, Verlene Barker, Centerville, Utah; Helen (Tom) Strah, Malad, Idaho; Bonnie (Forrest) Nulph, Shelley, Idaho; 19 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Dr. Richard M. LaMothe, 2 brothers, 4 sisters and 3 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 8, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Indian Hills L.D.S. Ward (5425 Bannock Hwy) with Bishop Justin Johnson, officiating. The family will meet with friends and family Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave. and Friday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel.
