Violet Hart

Pocatello - Violet Pickett Hart, much loved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Great-Great-Grandmother, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2008 in Salina, Utah at the age of 95.

Violet was born on the 26th of April 1912 on a farm in New Sweden, RR4, just outside of Idaho Falls, Bonneville, Idaho to Arvil and Grace Angeline Whetstone Pickett the fourth child with brothers Howard LeRoy, Ernest David, and Glenn Arvil.

Violet married Roland Kay Hart on the 8th of June 1930. To this union came two daughters, Norma Jean (Larry) Sorensen and Karen (Grant) Stubbs.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints serving in the Stake Relief Society Presidency, Ward Relief Society President, Foster Mother in the Indian Placement Program, taking in un-wed mothers and caring for her family and extended family. She hosted many general authorities in their home. She is survived by her daughter Karen, 12 Grandchildren, 56, Great-Grandchildren, and 30 Great-Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Roland Kay Hart and daughter Norma Jean.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 12 Noon at the Indian Hills Ward Chapel (5425 Bannock Highway) with Jim Dalley, Bishop's Counselor officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery in Annis, Idaho at 3:00 p.m. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel.
