Verda H. Skeem

Inkom - Verda Hunt Skeem, 89, longtime resident of Inkom, passed away early Monday morning, Nov. 5, 2007, at the home of her daughter in Nampa, Idaho, following an extended illness. She was born on February 10, 1918, the daughter of Jonathan and Nora Hunt in Bunkerville, Nevada.

When she was 3 years old, her family moved to Buhl, Idaho. She attended schools in Buhl and graduated from Buhl High School. She married Lester Skeem on April 4, 1939 in the Logan L.D.S. Temple, in Logan, Utah. Verda served in various church positions as primary teacher, Relief Society President, and counselor. She served two missions with her husband, one to Denmark and the other to Chicago. She served as a temple officiator with her husband in the Idaho Falls Temple for 17 years. She enjoyed crocheting, making quilts and gardening. Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family.

She is survived by her two sons, Rulon LaMoyne (Lillie) Skeem, Pocatello, Idaho; David (Starla) Skeem, McCammon, Idaho; one daughter, Terry (Bob) Jamieson, Nampa, Idaho; daughter-in-law, Sharon Skeem, McCammon, Idaho; 36 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 sons Arman and Gary, 4 brothers, 4 sisters.

Funeral services will be held Friday,Nov. 9, 2007 at 12 noon at the Inkom L.D.S. Church in Inkom, Idaho with Bishop Gordon Lish officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave. and from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Inkom City Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel.
