Sherry Lynn Hathaway Anderson "Sher-Hun," 74, peacefully returned to her heavenly home on November 7, 2024.
Sherry was born on April 4, 1950, in Pocatello, ID, to Colleen Moore and Bud Jr. Hathaway. She was a lil tow-head with the sweetest blue eyes. She grew up in Pocatello, where she attended elementary, junior high, and Pocatello High School, graduating in 1968. During high school, she was an active member of the Pep Club and was loved by all her classmates. Afterward, she completed the secretarial vo-tech program at Idaho State University.
With her larger-than-life personality, Sher was a natural "people person." She loved people and people loved her! She thrived in roles that allowed her to connect with others, working in schools, kids' clubs, Heinz, Juvenile Detention Center, activity director at Hillcrest Haven and nannied for her niece. She also volunteered at special mutual and was the warm, happy face at various retail stores in Poky, including ZCMI, Sears, The Bon, Walmart, and TJ Maxx. Her positive, loving demeanor left an impression on everyone she met.
Above all, Sherry was born to be a mom, and it was no secret how deeply she LOVED and adored her lil sweeties she was blessed with (all she shared with Kevin Anderson, whom she was previously married to.) She said her favorite number was five because of her five kids. She made their childhoods magical and filled with joy, pouring her heart into every moment with them. Her love extended to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she called "Grammy's precious baby dolls."
Sherry was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She treasured her relationship with her Savior and found peace in the temple, her "most peaceful place on earth." She served in many church callings, with primary being her favorite, as she adored the innocence of children and the simplicity of primary songs.
Sher-Hun loved to have FUN and brought her vibrant energy wherever she went. Whether sharing a stick of gum from the bottom of her purse, leaving a giant red lipstick kiss on a cheek, or simply lighting up a room with her presence, she made everyone feel loved, heard, seen, and accepted. She left every single person she encountered better than she found them!
Sherry had a knack for finding joy in the little things—taking walks with friends, soaking in the hot pools, relaxing on the lazy river at Ross Park, completing crossword puzzles, playing mini-golf, doing puzzles, traveling, LAUGHING (often at herself), dancing and listening to music LOUDLY, watching movies, or enjoying the annual Lagoon trips with her kids. She never missed Aquacise or a chance to go to any activity or sporting event that involved her kids and darling grandkids. Her favorite things were as colorful as her personality. Sherry loved chocolate, Coke Icees, ice cream, Mexican food, good music, make-up, fashion, and her hair fixed. And she was NEVER seen without her nails done–it was a priority! At home, she liked to be cozy in her slippers and heated blanket. Her favorite time of day was right before sunset. She believed fresh air, sunshine and drinking lots of water would cure just about anything. Sherry cherished time spent with her family, often saying, "I want us to all get together."
Sherry’s legacy is her love. She had the biggest, most loving, forgiving, compassionate heart that she shared with the world! She had a way of making friends instantly. Sherry had an unparalleled ability to make everyone feel special, genuinely caring for those she met. Her million compliments were heartfelt, her hugs endless, and her light unwavering, even on her hardest days. She was a beacon of hope and warmth, embodying her famous saying, "What's mine is yours." In her presence, you felt like her best friend. She could never get enough hugs, "I love yous,” squeezes, conversations, and kisses. She had the best, most contagious laugh! She never wanted to say "goodbye." There will never be anyone who will quite compare to our incredible angel mom! She is a legend!
Sherry's love lives on through her children: Brett (Cora), Burke (Amanda), Keva (Jared), Brand, and Kydee (Brock), her grandchildren: Braeden (Kylee), Elijah, Jaycee (Ro), Bailee, Drayson (Elle), Makiah, Tayzlee, Camdyn, Valencia, Brielle, Ava, Brecka, JaShon, Addie, Huntley, and her five great-grandchildren: Braeker, Atreyu, Zaya, Raeya, and Rova.
She was welcomed into heaven with open arms by her parents, her brother Clint, sister Janine, and many cherished friends and family who passed before her.
She will ALWAYS be in our hearts! Our one-of-a-kind, amazing, beautiful, heart of gold, pure sunshine, hilarious, oh so fun momma and friend will be dearly missed! We look forward to the day we get to hug her again! We are never letting go!
Mom, we love you with all our hearts and look forward to the day we'll be together again. Your one-of-a-kind spirit will forever shine in our lives. Until we meet again.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Caring Hearts, especially her angel, Shellie, her sweet nurse, Emilee, and Heritage Home Health, for their kindness and care.
