Ruth Anglesey Swenson

Pocatello - Our beloved mother Ruth "H" Anglesey Swenson of Pocatello, ID passed away early on the morning of June 20, 2011, she was 79. Ruth was in her own home where she wanted to be, surrounded by family.

Ruth was born September 14, 1931 at Freedom, Wyoming. She was the first child and only daughter of Charles Raymond and Grace Hokanson Laker Anglesey.

She grew up in Afton, WY where she attended school, graduating from Star Valley High School in 1949. Following graduation, she began working in a cafAC.. Later, she met Darvel Bullock Swenson. Ruth and Darv were married September 28, 1952 in St. Charles, ID; their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple in 1962.

Ruth worked faithfully as a homemaker caring for her husband and three children (Sharon, David, and Susan). Over the years, she also welcomed many different children for whom she provided child care. Ruth enjoyed camping and fishing with her family, stamp and spoon collecting, and traveling. Throughout her life she had the opportunity to visit many different cities and sites in the United States by train, bus, and automobile.

Ruth not only was dedicated to her living family but was also a devoted genealogist. She spent countless hours searching her roots and connecting the branches on her family tree. Family history was not just a hobby; it was her passion.

Her children remember her as a very friendly person stopping to talk to just about anyone anywhere. She was/is loved by many!

Ruth is survived by her three children Sharon Swenson of Pocatello, David (Audra) Swenson of Chubbuck, and Susan (Brett) Jensen of Afton, WY; her seven wonderful grandchildren Jeremiah (Jennifer) Jensen, Camille Swenson, Danielle Swenson, BreAnna Green, Logan Swenson, Hannah Swenson, and Rigby Swenson; one great grand child Kenadee Jensen; two brothers Cloyde (Ana Mae) Anglesey and James Anglesey of Star Valley, WY.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her eternal companion Darvel, her brother Keith, and grandson Dillon Swenson.

We would especially like to thank the many friends who have cared for mom in her later years. In particular, we thank the ladies at the 'water office' and Lisa Gravatt (and staff) of Alliance Home Health and Hospice who supported her right to the end.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 25 at 1:00 p.m. in the L.D.S. Cedar 3rd Ward Chapel 550 W. Cedar with Bishop Robert E. Murdoch officiating. A viewing will take place Friday, June 24 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel 510 N. 12th Ave. and on Saturday from 12:00-12:45 p.m. at the church. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel.
