Pocatello - Ruth Olive Brower, 95, longtime resident of Pocatello, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2009 in the ER at Portneuf Medical Center following a sudden illness.

She was born June 9, 1914, in Menan, Idaho, a daughter of Ezekiel (Lee) and Mary Mitchell Pierce. She attended schools in Menan.

On September 1, 1932, she married Leonard Jason Brower in Annis, Idaho. A few years later, they moved to Pocatello were they resided the rest of their lives. Leonard passed away January 12, 1990.

Ruth liked crocheting, playing word search, camping and fishing. She and her husband were foster parents for many children over the years. She enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Ruth's family would like to extend special thanks and appreciation to her care-giver Jean Sanders and her family for the loving and tender care they gave to our mother and grandmother. Ruth was a member of the L.D.S. Church.

Survivors include: 2 sons, Leonard (Colleen) Brower Jr., Sandy, Utah; Jack Edward Brower, Pocatello, Idaho; a daughter, Kellie (Lyle) Burrup, Pocatello, Idaho; 22 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Walter, an infant daughter, a grandson, Scot Burrup and 4 brothers.

Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pineview Cemetery in Ashton, Idaho with Stanley Burrup, officiating. The family will receive friends this evening, Friday from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave.. Funeral arrangements are under the direction and care of Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel.
