Born January 27, 1928 to Thomas Lorenzo Nixon and Mildred Francis Thomas in Iona, Bonneville County, Idaho. She married Donald Parkin October 28, 1945 and the marriage was solemnized on July 21, 1951 in the Idaho Falls Temple. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She had the opportunity serve the church in many capacities. She was the mother to six boys, who were the light of her life. With the passing of her mother at a young age the family was separated and she was committed to keep the family close, even though they were placed in different families. She worked at Skaggs Drug store to help put her five boys on missions. In her later years she worked as a teacher aide at Wilcox Elementary School.
She was preceded in death by her husband Don, a son Michael Don, a granddaughter Stephanie Parkin, parents Thomas Lorenzo Nixon and Mildred Francis Thomas, siblings Ruth Jennings, Harold Nixon, Mardene Jensen, and Sandra Lewis. She is survived by five sons, Richard (Rick) & Mary Beth Parkin, Charles (Chuck) & Shauna Parkin, Scott & Janet Parkin, Blair & Jackie Parkin, Gary & Christy Parkin, a sister Nanette Miller and a brother David Tingey. She had 21 grandchildren 39 great grandchildren.
There will be private family services with a viewing at 10:00AM and the funeral service beginning at 11:00AM Saturday October 10, 2020 at the Manning Wheatley Funeral Home.
