Pocatello- Rose (R.B.) Martin, 72, of Pocatello passed away Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008 at Portneuf Medical Center following an illness. He was born March 30, 1935 in Muskogee, Oklahoma the son of Rose B.(Fuller) and Ethel Imogene Chaney Martin. His family moved to California and he attended schools in Pixley, California. He also lived in Arkansas, and Rupert, Idaho prior to coming to Pocatello in 1957.
He married Darla Jean Ferrin in 1955 in Rupert, Idaho. They later divorced in 1960. He married Dorothy Ruth Rupp Reese on June 17, 1961 in Pocatello, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple.
He worked for Wheatley-Jensen Texaco Station at Yellowstone and Cedar for many years. He later owned and operated the Texaco Station on the corner of 5th and Clark. He also worked for Idaho Power. He worked for several years at the Huskey Station for John McNabb. He was the service manager for Paul Jones Dodge and last worked at Midas Muffler as brake manager.
He had a great love for country music and had different bands and wrote many of his own songs. He played at many functions and events over the years. He started playing the guitar when he was 8 years old. He enjoyed playing and singing at the senior center.
He was active in the L.D.S. Church and was Sunday School President, He also taught Sunday School. His greatest joy was his family and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who know him.
RB is survived by his wife, Dorothy Martin, Pocatello; three sons, Doug (Darlene) Martin, Oakley, Idaho; Tommy (Carol) Reese, Tucson, Arizona; Tim Reese, Shelly, Idaho; two daughters, Cindy Bentemps, Boise, Idaho; Tammy (Kelly) Harman, Magna, Utah; three brothers, Max (Mary Kay) Martin, Moreland, Idaho; Johnnie (Pat) Martin, Horton, Kansas; Jimmy (Carla) Martin, Post Falls, Idaho; Jim Zundel (special brother-in-law) Moreland, Idaho; two sisters, Shirley (Mike) Gomez, Twin Falls, Idaho; Frieda Bear, Jack Pot, Nevada; Sister-in-law, June Hamilton, Pocatello, Idaho; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren;
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rose Janine Arnaud;brother, George Martin; four sisters, Ida Cole, Lil Zundel, Mary Martin, Sarah Margaret. and 2 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday March 3, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Cedar Third Ward Chapel (550 West Cedar) with Bishop Tory Nash officiating. the family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave. and Monday from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Norton Cemetery, McCammon, Idaho Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel.
