Robert Allen Grant, age 77 of Chubbuck passed gently into his loving Heavenly Father's hands on March 13th, 2022 at Elegant Assisted Living in Chubbuck, ID surrounded by his family. He was born into an already large family as a twin to Robert and Iva (George) Grant in Moscow, ID December 12, 1944. The family later moved to the Pocatello area where he was raised.
He was married to Shirley Cole, and of this marriage, two children were born (Robert “Allen” Grant Jr, and Sherri Lynn Grant). They later divorced. He then married Mary "Jean" (Oldfield) Higgins and two more children were born, (Jerry and Shauna Grant). Their parents later divorced and Robert once again married Kathy Hosmeister having two more children. That marriage also ended.
Robert having only completed the 8th grade served in the United States Army Reserves (Special Forces) unit from February 8, 1975, to January 28, 1981. The rest of his life he spent doing the things he loved. He was a mechanic for many years and also a truck driver working for companies such as Purple Sage, D & D Transportation, Giltner, Kil-Pac, May Trucking, and Doug Andrus, for most of his adult life. He loved the open road and spending time with his kids. He also loved shooting pool and fishing.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, his twin sibling, his (6) sisters, and his oldest son. He is survived by Sherri & Jerry Westlake of Wendell, ID, Paul and Amanda Grant of Pocatello, ID, Heidi Shelton of Pocatello, Jerry & Santina Grant of Aberdeen, ID and Shauna & John Allen of Vermont. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, and numerous other cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Robert joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on July 10, 2010, so we are honoring him through their service. Services will be held at the LDS Church at 1700 Kinghorn Rd, in Pocatello on Friday, March 18th, 2022 at 1 PM. Luncheon following.
