Robert George Egbert Pocatello-Robert George Egbert, 84, of Pocatello passed away Monday, July 9, 2007 peacefully at his home. He was born July 19, 1923 in Pocatello, Idaho the son of Joseph Robert and Anna Marie Blaser Egbert. He lived in Pocatello most of his life. He attended schools in Pocatello, graduating from Pocatello High School. He married Carmen Kathleen Crofts on April 27, 1943 in the Salt Lake Temple. He worked at the Bannock Hotel and Sears for a short time while attending I.S.U. He started work for the UPRR in 1942 and worked there for nearly 43 years, retiring as a crew dispatch supervisor. He held numerous positions in the L.D.S. Church including Home teacher, Deacons Quorum Advisor, Stake Mission President, Sunday School Teacher, Bishop's Counselor, Bishop of the 28th Ward, Counselor to the University Stake President, and scout master. He was awarded the Silver Beaver, attended Wood Badge and Order of the Arrow. He attended the first National Scout Jamboree in 1937. He enjoyed working with the youth. He worked with the genealogy extractions of the 1880 census. He was a temple ordinance worker and supervisor for 5 years. He is survived by his wife, Carmen Egbert, three sons, Robert George Jr. (Kathy) Egbert, Gilford, New Hampshire; Michael J. (Patty) Egbert, Omaha, Nabraska; Kent Joseph (Monica) Egbert,Las Vegas, Nevada; six daughters, Kathie Lee Fullmer, Pocatello; Suzanne (Robert) Johnson, Ft. Collins, Colorado; Janice Rae (Curtis) Johnson, Rigby, Idaho; Jeanne Lyn (Ed) Roberts, Pocatello; Lea Marie (Rodney) Price, Pocatello; Carol Diane Maynard, Pocatello; four brothers, Carl (LaRae) Egbert, Pocatello; Carwin (Cyrena) Egbert, Pocatello; Jack (Lenice) Egbert, Pocatello; Jay (Leilani) Egbert, Idaho Falls, Idaho; three sisters, Sheila Taylor, Nampa, Idaho; Loree (Reed) Wyatt, Rexburg, Idaho Roberta (Larry) Larsen, Rupert, Idaho; 34 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 13, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Highland L.D.S. Stake Center (2140 Satterfield Drive) with Bishop Jim Lothspeich of the Highland 3rd Ward officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, July 12, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave. and on Friday from 12:00 noon to 12:45 p.m. at the church. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Funeral arrangement are under the direction of Manning-Wheatley Funeral chapel.
