Dr. Richard Lamar Pugsley, 96, Pocatello dentist, passed away peacefully March 9, surrounded by his daughters.

Richard was born at home in Rosette, Park Valley, Utah on February 13, 1921 to Philip Roy and Louise Kunzler Pugsley. He was the 7th of 9 children. He attended school in a 1-room schoolhouse in Park Valley before traveling to Brigham City where he boarded with friends of the family for high school.
While attending Utah State Agricultural College (Utah State University) in Logan, Utah he met Carol Daines. The shy farm boy swept the pretty city girl off her feet. They married March 17, 1941 and were sealed in the Logan, Utah LDS temple.

After graduating from USAC in mechanical engineering, Richard served in the Army Air Corp as an officer in Dayton, Ohio during World War II. After the War Richard and Carol moved to Portland, Oregon where he attended University of Oregon Dental School.
Richard and Carol chose Pocatello, Idaho to begin his dental practice, they made Pocatello home until his death. He loved to golf, snow ski, carve intricate wooden figurines and watch all sports events. He and Carol enjoyed regular road trips to explore the country, stopping along the way to visit with their many family and friends. He especially enjoyed his annual hunting trips with his brothers, their boys and other family and friends. Richard and Carol served an LDS mission in Nauvoo, Illinois

He is survived by his five daughters, Carol Gay Knighton (Robert) of Ogden, Utah, Loraine (Stephen) Carter of Annabella, Utah, Marilee (James) Lealos of Park Falls, Wisconsin, Lynn (Kenneth) Bullock of McCammon, Idaho and Cindy (Steven) Carr of Idaho Falls, Idaho. He has 17 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother, father, sweetheart Carol, daughter Marie, son-in-law Robert Knighton, grandson Kevin Carter and 6 siblings.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 17, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Caldwell Park L.D.S. Chapel.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave. and on Friday one hour prior to services at the church.

Richard will be buried in Logan, Utah next to his wife Carol and baby daughter. Burial services, 3:00 PM, Friday, March 17. with Military Rites provided by the South Cache American Legion Post 47.
