Pennie Kay Somora

Chubbuck - Pennie Kay Somora, our loving daughter, sister, mother and grandmother passed away Saturday, April 16, 2011 at her home and went to live with her eternal Heavenly Father.

Pennie was born August 11, 1946 to Clifford and Barbara Bell Martin in Pocatello, Idaho. Pennie had a free and happy childhood.

She married Dave Somora in 1961 and from this union they had four children. They were later divorced. She married George Dillard and from this union they had one child. This marriage also ended in divorce.

Pennie worked hard all of her adult life. After working for her mother for several years, Pennie began working for the Cotton Tree Inn on Bench Road in Pocatello and eventually worked her way up to head housekeeper for the Cotton Tree Inn in Idaho Falls. She was well respected by management and co-workers.

Pennie suffered a major stroke in 1995 and was unable to return to work. Due to her disability, Pennie lived with her mother for the last several years. She is survived by her children, Tina (Tim) Cragun, Post Falls, Idaho; Tracy Mills, California; Chris (Robin) Jaurique, California; Jennifer Somora and Danny Dillard, both of California; Her mother, Barbara Christensen, Chubbuck, Idaho; her sisters, Linda (Rick) Jones, Yuma, Arizona; Tammy (Bob) Hensley, Chubbuck, Idaho; one brother, Danny (Sharon) Martin, Pocatello, Idaho; and a half-sister, Judi (Dave) Campbell, Kennewick, Washington; She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her love and strength will live on in our hearts forever. She will be greatly missed, until we meet again. Pennie was preceded in death by her father, and stepfather, Marvin Christensen and her brother Michael Martin.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Tyhee L.D.S. Stake Center (Tyhee Rd and Moonglow Ln) with Bishop Gary Packham of the 48th Ward officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave.and Thursday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the Church. Interment will be in the Lava Hot Springs Cemetery at 3:00 p.m.. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel.
