Pocatello - Odell S. Daniels, 71, of Pocatello, passed away Friday, July 3, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family following a long and courageous battle with cancer.

He was born February 5, 1938 in Malad, Idaho, a son of Raymond and Rose Schwartz Daniels. In his youth, he attended schools in Fort Hall and Blackfoot, Idaho.

He joined the U.S. Navy in 1956. On April 7, 1959, he married June Noreen in Pocatello, Idaho. Odell served as an Electronic Technician for 20 years and was discharged in 1976. He received his GED while he was in the Navy. Since 1976 Pocatello has been their home. He worked as a Public Safety Officer at ISU for 15 years before he retired. He liked fishing, yard work, electronics and working on cars. He was a member of the L.D.S. Church.

Survivors include: his wife, June Daniels, Pocatello; a daughter, Natalie Jeniel Daniels, Salt Lake City, Utah; a son, Steven Odell (Tresa) Daniels, Pocatello; 3 sisters, Carolyn, Sherry and Jeniel; grandchildren, Tyson Odell (Angela) Daniels, Alexis Daniels, Adrian (Steffany) Ismaili, great-grandchildren, Hailee Daniels, Ellie Daniels, Adrian Ismaili Jr.. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave.. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens with military rites performed by the Pocatello Veterans Honor Guard. The family will meet with friends on Tuesday one hour prior to services at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Creekside Home Heath Care or Portneuf Cancer Center.
