O'Dean Leatha Hocking

Pocatello- O'Dean Leatha Thompson Loveland Hocking, 88, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2010 in the caring and compassionate care of the Idaho State Veterans Home.

She was born to Wilford Woodruff and Bessie Higgins Thompson, Oct. 13, 1922 in Tetonia, Idaho.

At an early age, she was adopted by Juanita and Oscar Loveland. She spent most of her childhood in Fish Haven, Idaho and graduated from Fielding High in Paris, Idaho. After graduation, she moved to Pocatello where she met and married the love of her life Evan Elliott Hocking. She spent the next 69 years in Pocatello.

She and Evan had four children, Elliott Hocking, Leatha Mickey (Neil) Madsen; Shirley (Daryl) Sleight; Kay Hocking; 9 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren, whom she adored.

O'Dean loved embroidering, ceramics, reading, and drawing. She belonged to a TOPS Club for over 40 years. She achieved her KOPS status which she was very proud of. She was a member of the LDS Church and served for many years in the Primary. She belonged to a senior singles group that she enjoyed greatly and had many special friends.

She worked at Deseret Industries for a few years until her health forced her to stop working.

She had special friends, Margaret, Phyllis, Pat, Doris, Lilas and a best friend Grace and many TOPS friends who meant the world to her.

"A Tribute From Her Daughter" Mom you endured many challenges (more that your share) but you never lost your Faith In God and always had a joke and a smile for everyone. You were never judgmental and loved everyone. You taught me courage, unconditional love and Faith. I will miss you more that you will ever know. YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct.25, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Alameda 9th Ward Chapel (1440 Lakeview Drive) with Bishop Richard Burgoyne officiating. The family will receive fiends from Monday 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Mountainview Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave.
