O. Norman Davis

O. Norman Davis Arbon Valley - O. Norman Davis, 76, longtime rancher and farmer in Arbon and Tyhee, passed away suddenly at his ranch in Arbon on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 from natural causes.

He was born December 17, 1930 in Pocatello, Idaho a son of Orval and Delora Thomas Davis. He attended schools in Arbon, Tyhee and Pocatello and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1949. He was active in FFA where he served as FFA president.

On February 8, 1951 he married Shirley Schild in Pocatello, Idaho. They spent the next two years at Fort Bragg in Fayetteville, North Carolina where Norman was stationed during the Korean War. After his discharge in 1953 they moved to Arbon where he farmed as well as in Tyhee. They lived in Arbon during the summer and Tyhee during the winters where their children attended school.

He served on the Advisory Board for the Bureau of Land Management for the Burley District. He was an officer for the Arbon/Rockland Cattlemen's Association and was currently Vice President of the Pocatello Cattlemen's Association. He farmed and ranched in the Tyhee and Arbon area his entire life.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Davis, of Arbon, a daughter, Kathy (Doug) Alley, Pocatello; a son, Brian (Trinette) Davis, Pocatello; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son Steven.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 17, 2007 at 12 noon at the Arbon L.D.S. Chapel (on Church Road) with President Bill Hubbard, officiating. Interment will be in the Arbon Cemetery with military rites provided by the Pocatello Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends this evening, Sunday, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave. and Monday prior to services from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. at the church.
