Mona Leressa Young Abbott Coles, 93, after suffering a major stroke, passed away Friday, August 15, 2014, at Portneuf Medical Center. She was attended by many family members.

She was a wonderful aunt, sister, mother, friend, and grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. Mona was born in Ririe, Idaho, on March 28, 1921, the daughter of Andrew Josias and Priscilla Jane Weaverling Young.

She loved to make crochet afghans and knit sweaters for all her family and friends She also enjoyed reading novels and historical writings. Mona was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed serving in many positions. Mona will be missed by all of her family and friends.

She leaves behind her daughter, Patricia (Larry) Ratliff, California; a step-daughter, Bonita (James) Taylor; a son Ray Dean (Jennilee) Coles; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 9 sisters, 2 brothers, one adopted brother, her husband, Ray Campbell Coles, a daughter and son-in-law Diana and Bill Boyer; a grandson Benjamin Scott Ratliff.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 25, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chubbuck L.D.S. Stake Center (450 James Street) with Bishop Gary Anderson of the Chubbuck 4th Ward officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening August 24, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave. and on Monday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery in Ririe , Idaho at 3:30 p.m. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel.
