Pocatello - Mildred Bailey Hartvigsen Jones, 88, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2013, at a local care center.
She was born January 30, 1925, in Arbon, Idaho, the daughter of Lorenzo Hawkins and Agnes Chloa Facer Bailey.
She attended elementary school in Arbon Valley. She went to High School at Bear River High School in Tremonton and Pocatello High School where she graduated in 1942.
She married Boyd Hartvigsen on February 26, 1943 in American Falls. Their marriage was later sealed in Idaho Falls Temple.
She later joined her husband at Medical School in Chicago. Her husband then changed careers and went into dentistry. They opened their practice in Pocatello and Mildred was his receptionist for over 20 years. Boyd passed away August 15, 1983.
On April 22, 1988, she married Robert D. Jones, of Blackfoot, Idaho. In 2000, they moved to Pocatello, Idaho to be near Robert's daughter, Susan, who helped them when their health declined. Robert passed away July 17, 2009 and Mildred moved to the Caring Hearts Care Center.
She enjoyed golfing, bowling, traveling, gardening, baking, cooking, and family gatherings. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had many callings, including Primary President, Primary counselor, visiting teacher and Relied Society counselor.
Mildred is survived by her son, Terry Lynn Hartvigsen, Pocatello, Idaho; 2 step- daughters, Susan (Tony) Madsen, Pocatello, Idaho; Christine (Larry) Morgan, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 1 brother, Deo (Kay) Bailey, American Falls, Idaho; 8 step grandchildren and 19 step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands, son Monte Wayne, 5 sisters, 3 brothers. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff and nurses at Caring Hearts, Access Hospice and especially her niece, Marae Holman for the loving care toward Mildred for the last four years.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:00 noon to 12:45 p.m. Interment will be in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel.
