Maureena Lee Blackwell

Lava Hot Springs - Maureena Lee Fagnant Blackwell, 45, of Lava Hot Springs, Idaho passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at her home following a sudden illness.

She was born December 30, 1963 in Downey, Idaho, a daughter of F. Gene Fagnant and Margaret Allee Remington. She attended schools at Lava Hot Springs and Marsh Valley High School. She also attended Idaho State University for massage therapy training.

On March 14, 1980, she married Steven Wayne Blackwell in Pocatello, Idaho and they were later divorced. She was a volunteer for the Lava Hot Springs Volunteer Ambulance District. She worked as a CNA in various medical facilities in the Portneuf River Valley. She served as a Regional Emergency Services Coordinator for the Red Cross for the last 10 years. She became a National Licensed Massage Therapist and worked in this field in Lava Hot Springs and then in Del Mar, California. She worked at the Del Mar Grand Resort in Del Mar, California for the past three years returning to Lava Hot Springs in January 2009. She enjoyed many things in her life especially the outdoors. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.

Survivors include: her father, F. Gene (Carmen) Fagnant, Lava Hot Springs, Idaho; her mother, Margaret Allee Remington Fagnant Worley, Hixon, Tennessee; a son, Scott Eugene Blackwell, Durango, Colorado; a daughter, Bethany Elise Blackwell, Jacksonville, North Carolina; 4 brothers, Franklin Dale (Debbie) Fagnant, Russell Jerome Fagnant and partner Neil Ragan, Kenneth Eugene (Julie) Fagnant, all of Lava Hot Springs, Clinton Collins, Hixon, Tennessee. one granddaughter, Nevaeh Fuentes. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Arthur and Kathryn Fagnant, Tom Remington and Emily Remington Pyeatt.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 4, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady Of Lourdes Catholic Church, 132 S. 1st W. in Lava Hot Springs, with Father Gabriel Vargas, officiating. Interment will be in the Lava Hot Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave. and Saturday for one hour prior to services at the church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations by made to Maureena's funeral fund in care of Russell Fagnant at P.O. Box 644 Lava Hot Springs, Idaho 83246.
