Pocatello-Matthew Reed Berrett, age 40, passed away Saturday evening June 14, 2008 following a motorcycle accident near Pebble Creek.
He was born January 7, 1968 in Pocatello, Idaho a son of Edward J. and Jean Chambers Berrett. He attended schools in Pocatello at Edahow Elementary, Franklin Jr. High and graduated from Highland High School class of 86. He attended the University of Idaho for a time and then Idaho State University.
On July 29, 1988 he married Karen Gorman at Lake Tahoe, Nevada. They were later divorced. He was a member of the Order of The Arrow and attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a member of the L.D.S. Church. He had worked a various restaurants in Pocatello, including Mama Inez, Buddy's and Senor Iguana's. He had worked at J.R. Simplot for the past 8 years as a lab technician.
He loved skiing, camping, hiking, mountain biking and fishing. He also enjoyed music and will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.
He is survived by, his fiancAC.', Jerahlyn Whitworth, Pocatello; his father, Edward J. Berrett, Pocatello; a son, Trey Matthew Berrett and a daughter Holly A. Berrett, both of Pocatello; a brother, Mark Edward (Sue) Berrett, Salt Lake City, Utah; 4 sisters, Elesa Berrett Shuman, Pocatello; Nina Berrett Gardner and Kirie Ann Berrett(Bob K.) Brown, both of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Lori Jo Berrett (Ronald C.) Grow, Pocatello. He was preceded in death by his mother Jean Chambers Berrett, his grandparents, Edward Hyrum Berrett and Amy Jackson Berrett and Max Wayne Chambers and Josephine Eleanor Christensen Chambers, and a brother, John Richard Berrett.
Memorial funeral services will be held Thursday, June 19, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pebble Creek Ski Lodge. The family will receive friends this evening Wednesday, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave.
