Pocatello - Mary Ellen Carlson Snyder, 40, passed away in her sleep on September 21, 2010.
She was born on June 12, 1970 to Milton J and Gay Bitter Carlson. She was raised in Pocatello and recently moved back from Long Beach, California. She was a member of the L.D.S Church. She was very talented and enjoyed all sports. At Highland High School she was Homecoming Royalty, an outstanding basketball and volleyball player and played on 2 state championship basketball teams. She was also a member of the first Highland High School girls golf team. After graduating high school she attended Rick's College for 2 years. She married Theron Ray Muir in 1990. They were later divorced. She moved to California in 1991 working for Smith's Grocery. She met and married Jack Avey Snyder in 1999. She was a waitress and bartender in the Long Beach area where she developed a large following of customers and amazed everyone with her vast knowledge of sports. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. In her spare time she and Jack loved to golf and ride their Harley-Davidson motorcycle. They also enjoyed entertaining family and friends in their beautiful back yard. In recent years she became a certified massage therapist. She was always willing to listen to problems of others and help them whenever she could. Her favorite message to share with others was "Be your own kind of beautiful".
She is survived by her husband Jack, her parents, a sister Elizabeth Ann Price, Surprise, Arizona; a brother Christopher James Carlson, Cypress, California, niece Sarah Price Herbert, Surprise, Arizona and nephew Clay Price, Phoenix, Arizona. She will be missed by her many surviving family and friends in Idaho, Arizona and California, especially the Dan and David Harding families. She is preceded in death by both sets of grandparents.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel 510 N. 12th Ave. The family will receive friends today, Friday September 24, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel and also on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. in Fielding Memorial Cemetery in Idaho Falls following the services.
