Pocatello-Lyle J. Howell, 96, of Pocatello passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at a local care center.

She was born October 22, 1915, in Park City, Utah, the daughter of Kenneth Clinton and Leah Jane Townsend Jensen.

When she was very young, her family moved from Park City, Utah to Tabiona,Utah. She attended school in Tabiona and a short time in Covina, California. She graduated from East High School in Salt Lake City, Utah.

She married Eli Lewis Howell on February 17, 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They moved to Pocatello in 1934. They built the Howell Motel in 1950, which they operated until 1971. Lewis passed May 18, 1986.

She was a member of the YWCA. She loved to play bridge and belonged to several bridge clubs. She loved her dog Chrissie and later her dog Ginger.

Lyle is survived by her son, Gordy Howell, Pocatello; her daughter, Cara L. Howell, Pocatello, Idaho; one sisters, Audrey Young, Valparaiso, Florida; She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one sister, Edith Stier.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 19, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave, with Rod Johnson officiating.

The family will receive friends on Monday, one hour prior to services . Interment will be in Mountainview Cemetery.

The family would like express a special thank you to Pocatello Care and Rehab Center for the loving care of their mother.
