Louis Victor Christensen

Blackfoot- Louis V. Christensen passed away peacefully on March 18,2011. He was the oldest son of Victor August and Elizabeth(Lucille) Perkins Christensen, born October 1, 1922.

He married his high school sweetheart, Nellie Lou Benson on December 16,1942.

Louis lived a full and active life. His parents taught him to work as a child. For many years, he worked a full-time job, a part-time job and served in Idaho National Guard. He cut meat in markets in Preston, Rexburg, and Pocatello, Idaho including: I.G.A., Safeway, Ward's Market and Frazier's Market. He was well liked by co-workers and customers.

Louis changed careers in mid-life. He drove truck for Wycoff for 5 years and spent 19 years as a postal clerk for the U. S. Postal Service. He served in the Idaho National Guard for 27 years.

He planted large vegetable gardens and beautiful roses in the flower beds surrounding the house. He spent hours caring for his roses.

Louis enjoyed skiing with his sons Mike, Dave and Kelly. He took sons Dean and Louis fishing.

Louis is survived by his daughter, Kathleen C. Benedict, Salt Lake City, UT; sons, Dale B. (Sherry), Logan,UT; Mike B. (Susan), Brigham City, UT; Dean B., Salt Lake City, UT; David B., Pocatello, ID; Louis B., Denver, CO; his daughter-in-law, Cherie, Pocatello, ID; his brother, LuDean P. West Palm Beach, FL; sisters, Charlotte Maxwell (George), Salt Lake City, UT;Carol Callahan (Bill), Tucson, AZ; 19 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Nellie Lou; sons, Frank B. and Kelly B., and his brother Dale P. Christensen.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday March 26, 2011 at 11:00 a.m.at the Manning Wheatley Funeral home, 510 North 12th. Avenue, Pocatello, Idaho. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. prior to services.

Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery, Logan, UT. following services with military rites provided by The South Cache American Legion Post #47 El Ray Robinson,commander. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel.
