Louis V. Berry
Pocatello - Louis Vernon Berry, 90, longtime resident of Pocatello, passed away peacefully early Sunday, February 10, 2008 at a local assisted living center of causes incident to age.
He was born May 9, 1917 in Maynard, Ohio a son of Jesse Winfield and Cora Emma Peel Berry. He attended schools in Maynard, Ohio and came out West to Idaho during the depression and worked for the CCC's. (Civilian Conservation Corp). Following his employment with the CCC's he stayed in Pocatello and started working for the Union Pacific Railroad. He started as a fireman and worked up to be an engineer and retired after 36 years of service.
He married Gean Marie Bowman and they later divorced. He later married Hope Stotler on February 14, 1983 in Pocatello, Idaho. He loved horses and trained many over the years and enjoyed teaching others about horses. He also enjoyed spending time with his family at their cabin in Island Park.
Survivors include: his wife Hope Berry, Pocatello; 3 sons, Louis V. (June) Berry Jr. Carlin, Nevada; Raymond (Sherry) Berry, Pocatello; Robert Berry, Pocatello; a sister, Ruth Smiegle, Ohio; 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son William, a brother Jack, two sisters Doris Wall and Frida Shaw.
