Lorraine D. Tyler

Lorraine D. Tyler Pocatello - Lorraine D. Tyler, 78, of Pocatello, passed away peacefully at her home early Monday, morning September 17, 2007. She was born January 6, 1929 in Carey, Idaho, a daughter of Ernest and May Simpson Dilworth. She attended schools in Carey, Idaho and moved to Pocatello where she attended Pocatello High School her senior year. She also wrote the senior class song. She then attended Idaho State University and received her Bachelors Degree in Music Education in 1952. She was accomplished musician and genealogist.

On July 19, 1949, she married Lynn Dell Tyler in the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple. They lived in Bountiful and Salt Lake City, Utah area for several years and then moved to Walnut Creek, California, where they lived from 1967 to 1998 then they returned to Pocatello. They are the proud parents of eight children (seven living), 43 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Lorraine taught innumerable piano lessons. While living in beautiful Walnut Creek, California, she began to collect, experiment with and perfect many wheat and multi-grain recipes which she compiled and published through Magic Mill entitled "The Magic of Wheat Cookery and the Natural Nine." They were both best sellers. In the forward of her two books, she paid special tribute to her beloved sweetheart, Lynn, and her children who endured throughout all the testing, trying, flops and successes. She loved to garden. Roses were her favorite flower, lavender her favorite color and laughter her favorite medicine. She enjoyed crocheting. Our homes are beautified with doillies, afghans and the quilts she made.

Lorraine and Lynn were privileged to serve three full time missions: Oakland California Cambodian Mission, Scotland 1992-1994, and Mainland China 1999 -2000. She is still known as the story telling Nana Tyler on the Chinese radio. Lorraine strove tirelessly to help lift everyone she met to help them feel their Heavenly Fathers love and know of their divine worth. She was a mother and grandmother to many. We love you and miss you dearly mom and sweetheart.
