Pocatello—Leonarda Theresa Yazzie-Eldridge, 64, of Pocatello, passed away Friday, September 01, 2017, due to medical illness complication.
Leonarda also known as Terry was born September 26, 1952, to Leonard Eldridge, Toadlena, New Mexico and Late Caroline Pohipe, Fort Hall, Idaho.
She was an enrolled member of the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes.
Leonarda married, late Johnny Kee Yazzie, September 2, 1977 in Winslow, Arizona until his passing in 1997. They were blessed with 7 children.
She worked for Lamb Wesson, American Falls, ID for 15+ years. She did numerous jobs, as a general laborer, but the one that everyone remembers her for is taking care of little ones of family, relatives, and friends.
She became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1988.
She enjoyed the company of her children, her grand children, and great grand children. She visited with many relatives and friends and their families to become what is known as “everyone’s mom.”
She is survived by four daughters: Angela Yazzie Moreno, Joan Bunnie Yazzie, Crystal Yazzie Bowen, and Dzanil Tiffany Charley. Three sons: Darrell Yazzie, Dwayne Yazzie, and Jonathan “Boomer” Yazzie. 21+ grandchildren: Stewart Dixey, Cheyenne Dixey, Moriana Moreno, Alfonzo Moreno, Bunnita Yazzie, Dustin Yazzie, Seryssa Yazzie, Samantha Yazzie, Idalis Yazzie, Dason Yazzie, Dakota Bowen, Orion Bowen, Kaya Bowen, Dominik Yazzie, Dezeray Yazzie, Khloe Yazzie, Demetrius Yazzie, Shayla Tendoy, Alyson Yazzie, Kailei Bravo, Marcello Bravo, and Alejandro Bravo. 3+ Great grandchildren: (2) Stewart Dixey children, Johnny Alacard Kee Yazzie (parents: Dustin Yazzie and Juwanna Graves). Father: Leonard Eldridge, sisters: Leonarda J. Eldridge, Bertha Shonie, Winifred Eldridge, and Shannon Shorty. Brothers: Rodney Pohipe and Vernon Eldridge.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Caroline Pohipe, brother, Vincent Eldridge and husband, Johnny Kee Yazzie.
A viewing and burial service will be held Tuesday, September 5, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the Sand Hills Cemetery, in Fort Hall, Idaho. Family Feed will be provided after the completion of services. It will be held at her brother’s, Rodney Pohipe, residence, located on Broncho Rd.
