LaVerl W. Bingham of Pocatello, long-time resident of Blackfoot and Groveland, Idaho, died peacefully at her residence on Saturday, February 21, 2009. Mrs. Bingham was born in Wapello, Idaho, February 12, 1920, daughter of Eugene M. and Dottie V. (Stone) Wilkins.
Having completed her elementary education in Wapello, she went on to Blackfoot High School. In 1937 she married Richard N. Bingham, with whom she celebrated her 55th wedding anniversary. Earlier in life, Mrs. Bingham was a homemaker and a partner in her husband's farming and business ventures. She worked as secretary at Idaho State Hospital South for twenty years until her retirement in 1985. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and an active member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
She had 2 children: Margene Mollison of Pahrump, Nevada, and Richard B. Bingham of Oceanport, New Jersey, both of whom are living. Six of her eight grandchildren survive: Wendy Burman of Moorepark, California, Denise Isaacs of Oceanside, California, Richard D. Joly of Las Vegas, Nevada, Lisa Ann Hitchcock of Pocatello, Anne M. Bingham of Red Bank, New Jersey, and Dessie V. Dixon of Pocatello. In addition, she had seventeen Great-Grandchildren and seven Great-Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband as well as her brothers and sisters.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 27, 2009 at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel (510 N. 12th Ave.) at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to services at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel. Mrs. Bingham's final resting place will be beside her husband in Groveland Cemetery.
