LaDawn Goodey Bench, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother peacefully moved into the loving care of our Savior on Christmas Eve 2022.
LaDawn was born on January 7, 1933 in Clarkston Utah to Richard Archie Goodey and Stella Kerstine Petersen Goodey. She was the tenth of eleven children.
She married, Eugene Bench, on May, 18 1951. They were later sealed in the Ogden temple. They moved to Pocatello when their oldest child, Clair, was young and settled down and added four more children to the family, KayDawn, Cindy, Jill, and Brooks. When her husband had a heart attack. She went to work at A.M.I. to help keep the family going. Even with holding down a full-time job and keeping the house in order. She still found the time and energy to help her kids with 4 h, baseball games, anything we kids were interested in. She enjoyed helping the girls with 4H. Her family meant a lot to her. She had a special bond with each of her siblings, but she was closest to her to sister Mavis. They were like two peas in a pod. A bond that strengthens with each passing year. She loved playing 31 or May I with her sisters and they loved teaching it to anyone that wanted to play. When she played with the grandkids. She always seemed to goof up and help them win. She loved the joy that would spread across their faces. Many days were spent playing cards and drinking Coke and of course snacking.
She was born and raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS Church). She loved the church, and she fulfilled many callings in her lifetime. She held many positions in the primary and the relief society. Her two favorite callings were when she worked at the genealogy library, and when she fulfilled a temple mission in Chicago as she enjoyed serving others. LaDawn faced many challenges in her life, but she never lost her faith in the Lord and his plan of salvation. She was a faithful daughter of our Heavenly father. She faithfully read her scriptures. She paid a full tithing her whole life. Even when times were tough the tithing was paid first, and everything worked its self out. She knew the power of prayer, and the power of priesthood blessing. She loved attending the temple and would go every chance she got. Working in the Chicago temple was a dream come true. She loved seeing news places and all the friendly people back there. She really enjoyed going on a dinner cruise while in Chicago.
She had a kind gentle way with children, and she enjoyed spoiling them. Her grandson Jeremy nicknamed her grandma good stuff, because she always had candy, pudding pops, cookies and sneak drinks of coke if the parents weren’t looking. And if she didn’t have any treats. There was a trip to store to get what they wanted.
LaDawn has moved on to her heavenly home back with her loved ones the passed on before her. She has left a great number of loved ones here.
We love you mom. Until we meet again
