Kim W Hartman

February 20, 1933 — July 27, 2016

Kim W Hartman

He was born to Walter A. Hartman and Beatrice E. Evans in Ogden, Utah. He was the second son and youngest child. At the age of seven dad lost his father and the family settled in northern Utah.
Dad graduated from Weber High School in Ogden in 1951. Shortly thereafter he was drafted into the army during the Korean War. After an honorable discharge dad married the love of his life, Charlene Nelson. They were married and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1956. In Roy, Utah they welcomed two sons and later moved to Idaho Falls where they had their third son.
Dad worked for Production Credit Association in Idaho Falls. He enjoyed basketball, softball, running, and coaching his three boys.
In 1975 his company transferred him to American Falls and the family settled in Pocatello. Dad continued to be active playing basketball and running. One of his greatest joys was playing with and watching his three sons play high school basketball. No matter where the boys were playing, mom and dad were always in the stands cheering. This continued with every one of their nine grandkids in Pocatello and St. George.
In 1995 dad retired, but continued with an active life volunteering for the city of Pocatello, part-time meat cutter, and serving a mission for the church. He was an incredibility faithful member of the LDS church. Some of his callings were serving as an Elder Quorum President, Bishopric, High Councilor, High Priest group leader. Dad was always a faithful home teacher.
During his retirement dad took up golf and enjoyed many years playing with his kids, grandkids, and friends. Mom and dad recently celebrated their 60th anniversary.
He is survived by his loving wife, Charlene, three sons: Rodney (Debbie) St. George, Kirk (Jolene), Kim (Sheri) Pocatello and his brother Gayle (Betty) Utah. He has nine grandkids and 12 great-grandkids.
Funeral services will be held on Monday August 1, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Highland LDS Stake Center. The family will receive friends on Sunday July 31, 2016 from 7-9 pm at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel and on Monday one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in Mountainview Cemetery with Military Rites provided by the Pocatello Veterans Honor Guard.
