Dr. Kenneth Kirk Harris DO

CEDAR FALLS- Dr. Kenneth Kirk Harris DO, 37, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, at Sartori Memorial Hospital Emergency Room.

He was born Feb. 5, 1970, in Idaho Falls, ID, son of Kenneth and Jean Coon Harris. He married Katherine Marie "Katie" Dorsey on May 12, 1994, in Idaho Falls.

Dr. Harris graduated from Highland High School in Pocatello, ID. He attended Brigham Young University-Idaho in Rexburg, ID for one year, before attending Idaho State University, where he earned two Bachelor of Science Degrees: one in Microbiology and the other in Medical Technology. In 2000, he graduated from the Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed his residency at the Broadlawns Family Practice Residency program in Des Moines from 2000-2003. He practiced at the South Bend Clinic at Skyway Primary Care in South Bend, IN from 2003-05, then had been in practice at Physicians Immediate Care Center in Pocatello, Idaho from 2005-06. Beginning December of 2006, he was on staff as a Family Practice Physician at Covenant Clinic in Waterloo, Iowa. He was being trained for the position of Assistant Medical Examiner of Black Hawk County. He served an L.D.S. mission to Milan, Italy and had served in the young men, was assistant stake excecutive secretary, served in the primary, and was currently sunday school president in the Cedar Falls Ward.

Survivors include: his wife, Katie of Cedar Falls; four children, Kallie Marie, Caleb Kirk, Katelyn Paige and Caden Mathew, all at home; his parents, Ken and Jean Harris of Pocatello, Idaho; a sister, Wendy (Brian) Deffinger of Logan, Utah; and a brother, Robb (Krista) Harris of Cleveland, Ohio.

Preceded in death by: maternal and paternal grandparents.

Funeral Services will be on Wednesday November 14, 2007 at 1:00 at the L.D.S. Chapel (Butte and Hiskey) with Bishop Dan George of the Highland 8th Ward officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel 510 N. 12th Ave. and from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be in the Mountainview Cemetery.
