Juantele Atkinson Nelson, 88, longtime resident of McCammon passed away peacefully October 6, 2016. She was born on June 2, 1928 to Lester and Laura Atkinson in their home in Franklin Idaho. Her earliest years were marred by an accident at the age of 2 when her coat caught on fire while sitting around a bonfire. She spent the next 10 months receiving multiple skins grafts on her legs at the LDS Primary Children's Hospital. She was in the last graduating class of Franklin High School. On October 24, 1946 she married Alton B. Nelson in the Atkinson home and following his death they sealed in the Logan Utah Temple on May 6, 2009.
Alton and Juantele lived in Pocatello for 9 years and then they bought a small farm in McCammon where they raised their 5 sons, Tim, Bobby, Danny Kay, Hal Dean and Brooks.
Juantele was a lifelong member of the LDS church where she served numerous callings from librarian to relief society.
Grandma Tel loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, baking, snowmobiling and camping with her family.
She is survived by her 5 sons, Tim(Mary) Nelson, Robert(Molly) Nelson, Danny(Shirley) Nelson, Hal Dean Nelson, Brooks(Debbi) Nelson, 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and her 9 siblings.
Funeral services will be held Thursday October 13, 2016 at 11 am at the McCammon L.D.S Stake Center with Bishop Don Bates officiating. Interment will be in the Norton Cemetery in McCammon. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:45. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Manning- Wheatley Funeral Chapel.
