Pocatello- Joyce Chambers Ogden of Pocatello, Idaho ( 3 years), formerly of Clearfield, Utah (55 years) returned home to her Heavenly Father and to her loving husband, Daniel on Tuesday, October 27, 2009. Their 10 year separation is now an eternal companionship. Also enjoying their eternal reunion are her parents, Lawrence Theo and Amanda Caroline Chambers, her brother Dale Chambers, and her granddaughter Katie Nicole Ogden.
Leaving behind for a time are her 2 brothers: Revere Chambers of Samaria, Idaho, Verden Chambers of Perry, Utah and her only sister, Eloise McCormick of Pocatello, Idaho. Also surviving are her 7 children: Brenda L. Harrison (Robert) of Lovell, Wyoming, Daniel Kelly Ogden (Marcia) of Provo, Utah, Roger H. Ogden (Deborah) of Declo, Idaho, Danette O. Carlisle (Jon) of Cody, Wyoming, Bruce K. Ogden (Susan) of West Point, Utah, Bonnie Romero of Taylorsville, Utah, and Audrie L. Gunn (Craig) of Pocatello, Idaho. Her legacy also includes 31 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
Joyce was born on Feb. 13, 1927 in Nibley, Cache County, Utah. She attended schools in Idaho, Oregon, and Utah. As the war in Europe drew to a close, she married her sweetheart on June 5, 1945 in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple.
Besides raising 7 beloved children, she served in many callings in the LDS Church and worked in the Ogden, Utah Temple with her husband for 10 years. She was active in the Flamettes (Clearfield Fire Dept. Women's Organization) and later was employed by William V. Wright, D.D.S. for 15 years.
In 1974, she was chosen Clearfield's Mother of the Year. Her favorite pastimes included crocheting, scrap booking, and especially family get-togethers. She also enjoyed traveling. Her travels included a trip to Israel, various trips with her husband and several with her children. One highlight of her travels was sharing a dream cruise vacation to Mexico with her seven children, their spouses and her sister Eloise.
She was loved by all who knew her and her service to others knew no boundaries. We will miss you Mom.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 2, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the L.D.S. Chapel on the corner of Butte and Hiskey with Bishop Jim Lothspeich of the Highland 3rd Ward officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Clearfield City Cemetery, Clearfield, Utah following services at 4:00 p.m. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel.
