Pocatello - Joseph Patrick McClung, 57, of Pocatello, passed away unexpectedly late Friday, July 17, 2009. He was born October 21, 1951 in Downey, California a son of Robert P. and Therese M Angilletta McClung.

He graduated from El Rancho High School in Pico Rivera, California where he excelled in wrestling and was awarded Wrestler of The Year in 1969-70. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam and received an honorable discharge. He moved to Pocatello in 1996 and graduated from Idaho State University College of Technology with an Associate Degree in Culinary Arts. He worked as a chef at the Pocatello Senior Center, Pocatello Care and Rehab Center and was employed as a chef at Beacon Hospital and Rehab at the time of his passing. He loved to hunt and fish in the outdoors of Southeastern Idaho. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and associates.

Survivors include; his mother and step-father, Therese M. and Robert Gannaway, Stockton, Missouri; 3 brothers, Robert P. (Lilli) McClung Jr., Pocatello; Idaho; Steve W. (Jackie) McClung, Chubbuck, Idaho; David P. (Kim) McClung, Pocatello, Idaho; 2 sisters, Virginia A. Willis, Wasco, Oregon; Patsy L. (Abel) Gonzales, Pico Rivera, California; He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Margaret McClung and Peter and Millie Angilletta. his father, Robert P. McClung Sr..

Funeral mass will be held Monday, July 27, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Holy Spirit Catholic Church (439 N. Hayes) with Father Enrique Terriquez as celebrant. The family will receive friends Monday at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of services. Interment will be on Wednesday, July 29th at 10:00 a.m. at Mountain View Cemetery (37 East) with military rites provided by the Pocatello Veterans Honor Guard. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave.
