Chubbuck - Jordon Keith Stuart, 85, longtime resident of the Pocatello, Chubbuck and Tyhee area passed away peacefully at his home Thursday, March 1, 2012. He was born July 2, 1926 in Pocatello, Idaho, a son of John Edward and Belle Linnie Brigham Stuart.
He attended schools in Tyhee, Chubbuck, Irving Jr. High and Pocatello High School. He worked on his fathers farm while growing up. He cleaned irrigation canal's with a team of horses for a $1.00 a day.
On August 4, 1945, he married Nadine Green in Chubbuck, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple in 1946.
He farmed in the Chubbuck area for many years and also worked construction as a heavy equipment operator. He became maintenance superintendent for the City of Chubbuck in 1970 and retired from there in 1988. Following his retirement from Chubbuck City, he continued working heavy construction and kept busy with his own projects and hobbies. One of his favorite things to do was soak in the hot baths at Lava Hot Springs and other hot springs as they traveled around the country with their 5th wheel trailer.
He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in the Boy Scouts of America for many years. He also served as Sunday School Superintendent, Elders Quorum Secretary, home teacher and ward greeter. He was known as the candy man to all the primary children.
He had a great love for animals and trained several horses. He liked boating, water skiing and spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Nadine Stuart, Chubbuck, Idaho; 2 sons, Danny Ray (Joyce) Stuart, Meridian, Idaho; Jordon Paul Stuart, Pocatello, Idaho; 3 daughters, Linda Nadine (Dennis) Bitton, Idaho Falls, Idaho; Marilyn Debra Stuart, Pocatello, Idaho; Brenda Kay Stuart, Caldwell, Idaho; a brother, Jerry Stuart, Blackfoot, Idaho; a sister, Gloria Bell (Cliff) Zelke, Mesa, Arizona; 12 grandchildren, 35, great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, a granddaughter and a great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the L.D.S. 37th Ward Chapel (Hwy 91 N) in Tyhee with Bishop Terry R. Adams, officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave. and Wednesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in Mountainview Cemetery.
