Joan Tillotson Chatterton

Pocatello - Joan T. Chatterton, 72, longtime resident of Pocatello, passed away early Tuesday morning July 26, 2011 at her home following a brief illness.

She was born April 27, 1939 in Malad, Idaho, a daughter of Kenneth Glen and Annie Myrl Thornton Tillotson.

When she was a child, her family moved to Pocatello where she attended schools and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1957. She then attended Idaho State College (ISU) Vo-Tech in secretarial training. Upon her completion, of her secretarial training, she worked in the office at the Massey-Ferguson farm equipment distribution center in Pocatello.

On June 26, 1959, she married Vaughn C. Chatterton in the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple.

As she started her family, she became a stay at home mom caring for her children. She greatly enjoyed caring and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved quilting beautiful quilts especially for her family. She cared for her mother for several years as well as her grandmother. She was a very caring and generous person. She very much enjoyed doing genealogy and serving others.

She was an active member of the L.D.S. Church and served many years in the Relief Society and Cub Scouts as a leader. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her loving husband, Vaughn C. Chatterton, Pocatello, Idaho; 2 sons, David (Rosalyn) Chatterton, Chubbuck, Idaho; Tom (Michele) Chatterton, Pocatello, Idaho; 2 daughters, Debbie (Kirby) Jonas, Pocatello, Idaho; Amy (Rod) Jones, Rexburg, Idaho; a brother, Michael (Brenda) Tillotson, Pocatello, Idaho; a sister, Linda (Warren) Holloway, Rigby, Idaho; 17 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Gerald Tillotson.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 1, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Pocatello L.D.S. Stake Center (655 S. Grant) with Bishop's Counselor, Gerald Homer, officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave. and Monday from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. at the church. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel.
