Pocatello - Jere Lee Packer, 57, lifelong resident of Pocatello, passed away unexpectedly early Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at his home. He was born August 15, 1952 in Pocatello, Idaho, a son of Parley S. and Mary Blanche Millward Packer.
Jere attended schools in Pocatello and graduated from Pocatello High School. He was a member of the L.D.S. Church and served a mission to Houston, Texas. He then attended Idaho State University where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Education. He taught school in the Pocatello School District 25 and also in Shiprock, New Mexico. Jere also worked as a security guard in Utah for a short while.
Jere was very intelligent. He learned computer technology on his own, and upon returning to Pocatello, he worked as a computer technician for the past 11 years, most recently for Galaxy Computers.
Jere greatly enjoyed the outdoors and loved to go camping with his family as often as he could.
Jere had a big heart and a deep soul. He would do anything he could to help friends, loved ones, and family members. Many times even virtual strangers would benefit from his kindness and compassion. Jere will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
He is survived by two brothers, Boyd Packer, Pocatello, Idaho; Robert "Bob" (Karen) Packer, Alta Loma, California; and a sister, Betty (Dale) Orth, Pocatello, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave. with Michael Waite officiating. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday for one hour prior to services at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel.
