Jeffery Max Edwards

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jeffery Max (JM) Edwards, who left us on July 11, 2024, at the age of 68. JM passed away at Portneuf Hospital in Pocatello, Idaho, surrounded by loved ones. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He touched the lives of many through his kindness and compassion.

Jeffery was born on April 8, 1956, in Ogden, Utah, to Anna Lee Edwards Lloyd and Darrel Max Edwards. He lived in Ogden until the age of six. In 1962, following his parents' divorce, Anna Lee moved with JM and his three siblings to Pocatello, Idaho, where they settled and built a new life. Jeffery attended Jefferson Elementary from 1963-68, and Lewis and Clark in 1969. Jeff graduated from Pocatello High School in 1975 as Student Body President. After high school, Jeff pursued higher education at Idaho State University where he won the “Intramural Football Championship in 1976.”and in 1978, JM won the “Championship at Utah State University in Intramural Football.” He was very proud of these accomplishments. Jeff had various jobs and in 1979 started his career working at Union Pacific Railroad. Jeff was one of the founding fathers of the Coors Horse Shoe Tournament which lasted from 1981 to 1988 in Pocatello. The last few years there were 10 Horseshoe pits side by side with 400 attendees. After Jeff retired from the railroad he worked at the Press Box Sports Bar and Grill in Pocatello from 1992 until 2022.  The Press Box was like home to him.  He took great pride in working there and always loved being able to be around all his dear friends.

Jeff later embarked on a career path that included roles at Rossignol Ski Company, Peterson Furniture, and retiring from Union Pacific Railroad after 20-plus years: he loved the railroad and the railroaders loved him! Jeff worked at the Press Box after retirement, where he acquired his nick-name “Joe Pesci” he loved working as a “Carnie”.  His hobbies included: water sports, golf, skiing, camping at Palisades, his dogs, friends and more.
