Pocatello- Janet Lee Moon, 61, passed away Thursday March 17, 2011 at Portneuf Medical Center from a sudden illness.
She was born May 10, 1949 in Pocatello, Idaho, the daughter of Verl and Beulah Stuart Bell. She attended schools in Pocatello and graduated from Highland High School. She worked with her parents at the Bell's A&W Root beer Drive Inn when she was young as well as their 31 Flavors Ice Cream Parlor.
Janet married Gary T. Moon on January 9, 1971 in Pocatello, Idaho. They were later sealed in the L.D.S. Logan Temple, Logan, Utah. Gary passed away in December 5, 1993.
She worked as an executive secretary at Idaho State University, Key Bank, and then at Idaho State University again as administration assistant. She loved music and singing. She served in the YWMIA which was her favorite calling. She greatly enjoyed her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Janet is survived by her father, Verl Bell of Pocatello; three sons, Wayne Moon, Pocatello; Bryan (Brekel Vaughn) Moon, Pocatello; Mike (Brittany Phillips) Moon, Pocatello; one daughter, Laurie (Jason) Holt, Riverton, Utah; four brothers, David (Rose) Bell, Ogden, Utah; Ted (Robin) Bell, Pocatello; Ned (Michelle) Bell, Pocatello; Leonard (Loa) Bell, Pocatello; one sister, Connie (Cliff) Spears, Pocatello; 9 grandchildren; She was preceded in death by her mother, Beulah Bell; husband, Gary Moon; daughter, Kristie Moon.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday March 22, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Highland L.D.S. 3rd Ward Chapel (Butte & Hiskey) with Counselor Gary Johnson of the Highland 3rd Ward officiating. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave. and on Tuesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Springfield Cemetery, Springfield, Idaho, next to her husband Gary Moon. In lieu of flowers the family would like to ask that donations be made to the Janet Moon memorial fund in care of the funeral home. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel.
