Chubbuck - Janet Renae Harris Thatcher Burton, 64, of Chubbuck, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2008 on Interstate 86 near Raft River, Idaho from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was born on December 1, 1943 in Pocatello, Idaho a daughter of Reed I. and Evelyn F. Wengreen Harris. She attended elementary schools in Arimo and McCammon and graduated from Marsh Valley High School, Class of 1962. She attended BYU in Provo, Utah for 2 years. On June 12, 1964 she married Lester Thatcher in the Logan, Utah L.D.S. Temple. They were later divorced. Her marriage to Whitney Jay Burton, also ended in divorce. She lived in Portland Oregon for many years as a real estate agent and broker. She also worked as a bank loan officer at various times and had worked at a title company. She also lived in California for some time and then returned to Portland before coming to Pocatello in 2003. She was a member of the L.D.S. Church and worked with the youth in writing and producing road shows. She did creative writing and wrote screen plays and performed in various plays and community theaters. She wrote a play entitled "Hogs Back Junction" that was being edited for publishing. She loved the Marsh Valley area and enjoyed taking frequent rides on the different roads in the area. She greatly enjoyed her friends, family and grandchildren.
She is survived by: her fiancAC. Bob Hughes, Chubbuck, Idaho; 4 sons, Darren (Katherine) Thatcher, Pocatello; Jeffery (Ann) Thatcher, Oregon City, Oregon; Reed (Sakurako) Thatcher, Salem, Oregon; Joshua Thatcher, Portland, Oregon; her mother, Evelyn Harris, Chubbuck, Idaho; 2 brothers, Darryl (Christine) Harris, Idaho Falls, Idaho; Alan Harris, Salt Lake City, Utah; a sister, Lyla (Eric) Epperson, Portland, Oregon. 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father Reed I. Harris.
Funeral services will held on Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the McCammon L.D.S. Stake Center with Bishop Ivan Bullock, of the McCammon Ward officiating. Interment will be in the Norton Cemetery at McCammon. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave. and on Thursday from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. at the church.
