James Lagos

James Lagos, 101, of Pocatello, Idaho was welcomed home peacefully by the Lord on April 11, 2018, while surrounded by family.

He lived a long, prosperous life with his "one true love", Mary Draper-Lagos, by his side. They recently celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary and together had five children, seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

In earlier years his favorite hobbies included fishing and more fishing, golfing, gardening and conquering crossword puzzles. He also loved his TV shows. In latter years he enjoyed listening to Jazz and Classical music, and, as always, holding Mary's hand.

Jim was a hard worker and expected his children to follow in his footsteps, which they did. He retired from the Union Pacific Railroad in 1979 as a Terminal Officer. At the time of his passing he had been retired one year longer than the amount of years he worked there, but he was never done working. He worked daily in his yard and had the most beautiful flower garden full of Zinnias, Marigolds and Geraniums, as well as the best vegetables that we all loved so much. He took pride in his gardens and most days you could find him out in one of them weeding by hand and ready to harvest for his children and grandchildren. It was rare to leave the house without a sack full of vegetables.

Jim was very generous and an avid supporter of the Idaho State Bengals, Greek Orthodox Church and many other local organizations.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Draper-Lagos; his children Connie Thompson, James J. (Judy) Lagos and Michelle (Andy) Kordopatis; Six Grandchildren, his Great-grandchildren and sister Irene Bates. He was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry Peterson and Steven Lagos; his grandson Scott Lagos and seven sisters.

A special thank you to the Manning-Wheatley Funeral Home for their compassion and professionalism. Per Jim’s wishes, a small family service will be held at a later date.
