Irma Tobler Bailey Satterfield, age 102, passed away on Oct. 14, 2010 . She was born on April 25, 1908, in Mirage CO.. She left behind 6 children, Anita (Robert) Bailey; Darla (Larry) Judd; Larry (Joan) Bailey ; Laurel (Eddie) Burger; Caron (Frank) Wiegel; Steve, (Debby) Bailey. 34 grandchildren; 102 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren, and 9 step grand-children.
She was the daughter of Edwin and Ada (Edwards) Tobler.
Teaching school was her greatest love, and she taught in many schools; Florence, Sanford, Nortenville, Carmel, Amarillo, TX., and Milsap, TX.. She received her degrees at Adams State College formally known as Adams State Normal School. She was one of the first students that attended there.
She had many hobbies, which included, gardening, sewing, painting, genealogy, scrap booking, and belonged to the Sanford Service Club, where she hosted the group for meetings and parties. She was a member of the Christ of Jesus Christ, and held many positions in the auxiliaries, mainly with the youth of the church.
Most of her life was spent in the San Luis Valley, until her divorce, then she moved to Texas for 25 years, before returning to the valley.
She has resided in the San Luis Care Center for 6 A½ years, Evergreen Home for 2 A½ years. She was loved and cared for by many loving nurses and aids. Irma's family sincerely thank those people for their loving care.
She was a very giving person, a loving mother, friend, neighbor, wife, and loved doing for others all her life. She will be missed by all.
Her funeral will be held at the Alamosa Stake Center, located at 927 Weber Dr. in Alamosa on Saturday, the 16 of Oct . Viewing will be at 12:00, in the Relief Society Room, and the funeral at 1:00 in the Chapel. Concluding Services will be at the Sanford Cemetery in Sanford, CO. Arrangements are under the care of Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel.
