Helen Ilene Labrum passed away Thursday, April 20, 2017 in her home. Helen was born on September 18, 1929 and raised in Pocatello, Idaho and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1947. Helen was married and sealed in the Manti, Utah Temple in August 1950 to Dean James Labrum who proceeded her in death. She and Dean raised 4 children, Duane (Laura) Labrum, Gary (Cherri) Labrum, Deann/Dede (Dan) Hegsted, and Evan (Amy) Labrum. They lived in Pocatello and Meridian, Idaho. Later in their life, Helen and Dean loved spending winters with friends in St. George, Utah.
Helen has 15 grandchildren: Kip Labrum, Teela (Jamie Lynne) Labrum, Sarina (Jacob) Robinson, Jayce (Kasey) Labrum, Dara (Greg) Parker, Sheena (Casey) Coles, Danielle (Eric) Larsen, Jon (Shirlee) Hegsted, Anna Hegsted, Sara (Samuel) Mitchell, Thaddeus (Nichelle) Labrum, Cory (Bailey) Labrum, Alysha (Andrew) Benoit, Jordyn (Dameon) Andrews, and Dakota Flake. Helen has 11 great-grandchildren. Helen loved her family above all else.
Helen was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She loved serving in all the organizations and was a faithful visiting teacher in many wards. She was a Relief Society President 3 different times and taught gospel doctrine. She was well known for finding ways to serve and delivering fresh bread. She and Dean served missions at the Family History Center in SLC and at the Bishop’s Storehouse. She was proud to house the missionaries for many years, and she served at the Distribution Center. A few years ago, Helen moved to Cottonwood Cove Retirement Center where she enjoyed friends there.
Helen was also an accomplished singer and musician. She was always willing to sing at events and loved leading and participating in choirs.
Helen considered everyone to be a friend and was very outgoing. She gathered friends from all walks of life. We love her.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 1 pm at the LDS Chapel at 2000 S. Fairway Dr. The family will receive friends Monday April 24 from 7 to 9 pm at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel at 510 N. 12 Avenue and on Tuesday 1 hour prior to the funeral at the church. Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery.
