Harriet Mae Romereim

Harriet Mae Johnson Spaulding Romereim passed away on August 14, 2014 in Pocatello, Idaho. She was born January 22, 1915 in Quimby, Iowa.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Pocatello, and carried out a lifetime of service for our Lord. She demonstrated strong faith and raised her family in the word of the Bible. Furthermore, she was a faithful servant bringing many persons to the Lord through her witnessing!

Harriet graduated from high School in Marcus, Iowa and later from a Hairstyling Cosmetology Program of Hairstyling in Sioux City, Iowa. In addition , she managed a salon and with the assistance of her husband provided financial and emotional support for her family.

Harriet was very active, kind, witty and displayed an amazing sense of humor, all while keeping her mental and physical health in top condition. She taught Sunday school for many years, volunteered for the Brookings Hospital, was a member of VFW in Brookings, and dedicated her life to assisting others. She housed, financed and cared for developmentally disabled children in her home. She demonstrated her faith in Christ by exhibiting a behavior that emulated strong Christian moral and ethical standards.

She danced frequently, exercised daily, played in a band, and traveled to Arizona for many years. Her favorite hobby, one of many, was creating beautiful life like dolls. She was featured in the Brookings Tribune when an article described the wonder of her talents. Her collection included well over 200 creations that were so gracefully displayed on the walls of one of her bedrooms in her home. She had learned to play the organ and the ukulele, by ear which brought her and her family many hours of pleasure.

Harriet was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Nellie (Richards) Baumgardner; her son Ronald Johnson; and three brothers Howard, Donald, and Russell. She lived a vibrant and loving life as a wife, and was remarried upon the deaths of her prior husbands, Arthur Johnson, Edward Spalding, and Lloyd Romereim.

Harriet is survived by her son Richard and Valerie Johnson, Pocatello; her daughter-in-law Susan Johnson, Minnesota; daughter-in-law Loye (Romereim) Holmes, South Dakota; her grandchildren Tamara (Johnson) and Shawn McGrady, Georgia; Michael Johnson, Pocatello; Courtney Johnson, Boise; Jodi Johnson Minnesota; Stacy (Johnson) and Andy Heid, Minnesota; Gavin Cummins, California; Skyler Cummins, Salt Lake City; Carissa Clancy, Boise; Cassie Clancy, Boise; Nathan Holmes, South Dakota; Tianna Holmes, South Dakota; Step sons Spencer and Sue Spaulding, Indiana; and Dave Spaulding, South Dakota. She is further survived by her brother Merle and his wife Cleo Baumgardner, who live in Iowa, and eight great grandchildren.

We are so grateful that the Lord invited us to her bedside, as He took her to occupy one of the many rooms He told her He would prepare, in advance, for her. We were able to share in the moment, say goodbye, and realize the wonder of our 99 year old Mother, Grandmother, and leader of our family. She passed on with such dignity and respect. Thank You Heavenly Father!
