Montpelier, Idaho - Glenna Bell Pinson Mathews, 86, formerly of Pocatello, passed away early Sunday, May 10, 2009 at the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital in Montpelier following an extended illness.
She was born September 30, 1922 in Richmond, Utah, a daughter of James Blaine and Lola Farrell Bell. She attended schools in Richmond, Utah where she graduated from North Cache High School. On April 25, 1944, she married Eugene Edward Pinson in Logan, Utah. Their marraige was later solemnized in the Logan L.D.S. Temple on November 5, 1952. Eugene passed away August 1, 1955. She married Warren A. (Bud) Mathews, March 22, 1958 in Elko, Nevada. He passed away on October 26, 1992.
She worked at J.C. Penny's in Preston, Idaho as well as Mel's Pharmacy. After moving to Pocatello in 1958, she worked for Paul's Pharmacy for about 15 years. She was active in the L.D.S. Church and served in various callings including Relief Society President, Primary Teacher, Young Women's Advisor and singing in the Ward Choir. She liked quilting, dancing, gardening, reading, sewing, singing and painting ceramics. She was always helping others. Her greatest joy in life was her children and grandchildren.
Glenna is survived by 4 sons, Tony (Andrea) Pinson, Paris, Idaho; Bruce (Judy) Pinson, Nampa, Idaho; Kent (Melody) Pinson, LaCenter, WA.; Warren (Jackie) Mathews, Caldwell, Idaho; a step-son, Brent (Jeanne) Mathews, Prescott, Arizona; a step-daughter, Sharmin (Gary) Snow, Long Beach, CA.; a daughter-in-law, Luan Pinson, Vancouver, WA.; 2 brothers, Farrell Bell, Sandy, Utah; Charles "Con" (Paula) Bell, St. George, Utah; a sister, Kathryn Spackman, Sunset, Utah; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands, a son, Steven, a great grandson;
Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Preston, Idaho City Cemetery with Bishop Rojelio Campos, of the Pocatello 18th Ward officiating. The family will receive friends and family on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel.
