Glenn “Bill” William Thornock, age 87, passed away at Brookdale Assisted Living on Friday, January 19, 2018. Glenn was born in Oakley, Wyoming on June 22, 1930 to Hugh and Alice Ball Thornock.
He graduated from Kemmerer High and married his high school sweetheart, Erma Hysell, on September 2, 1950. They lived in Frontier, Wyoming where he drove a truck for the Frontier Supply Company. Glenn joined the army in February 1952 during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany.
After his service, Glenn and Erma moved to Pocatello so he could attend trade school at ISU for auto mechanics. He graduated in June 1956 and enjoyed a lifelong career in mechanics starting at Park Price and Hill Brothers car dealerships and finishing with ANR (formerly Garrett Freightlines) in Bountiful, Utah where he retired early in 1990.
Bill and Erma had two children, Larry (Beth) in Hemet, CA and Cindy (Richard) Rhead of Boise, ID.
He is survived by his wife Erma of Chubbuck, ID, his two children, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Frank Thornock and sister Patsy Neil.
Glenn blessed many people with his compassion and service. He held several callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including ward mission leader, stake high councilor, and bishop. Many members of his ward recall his kindness and charity, and the time he dedicated to helping others. His sense of humor and sense of duty will be remembered and cherished by his friends and family.
Services will be at 11:00 am on Thur. Jan. 25, 2018 at the Central LDS Stake Center (225 Oakwood Dr.) A Viewing will be from 6-7:30pm Wed. Jan. 24, 2018 at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel 510 N. 12th Ave. and 1 hour prior to services at the church.
Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
