Gladys Irene Sanderson Pocatello- Gladys Irene Sanderson, age 105, of Pocatello and formerly of Kimberly and Hansen,Idaho, passed away early Monday January 21, 2008 at a local care center from causes incident to age. She was born Dec. 1, 1902, in Creston, Iowa, the daughter of Cole H. and Mary Hester Anderson Cordray.
She attended schools in Shannon City, Iowa. On March 30, 1920, she married Hugh A. Sanderson at Creston, Iowa. They were married for nearly 69 years when he passed away on January 9, 1989. She and Hugh moved to Kimberly, Idaho in 1929 and then to Hansen, Idaho in 1941 and back to Kimberly in about 1966. She had a green thumb and enjoyed a lovely garden each summer. She also enjoyed quilting, knitting and crocheting. She was past member of the Hansen Grange the Kimberly Grange and The Royal Neighbors. She had been a member of the Cross Roads Methodist Church in Kimberly for many years. She had lived in Pocatello for the past 13 years to be closer to her daughter Ruth.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Carol (Ray) Cox, Fresno, California; Ruth (Vance) Burrup, Inkom, Idaho. 7 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sons, Wendel and Leonard, a daughter, Gayle Leaver and a sister, Pearle Reberger.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 24, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at White Mortuary Chapel, 136 4th Ave. East in Twin Falls, Idaho with Pastor Dale Metzger, officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Park, Twin Falls, Idaho. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the building fund at the Cross Roads Methodist Church in Kimberly or the charity of their choice. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave.
