Pocatello - Gertrude Christiansen, longtime resident of Pocatello, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, September 4, 2009 from causes incident to age.

She was born April 17, 1913 a daughter of Walter and Alice Thews Daniels in Pocatello, Idaho.

She attended schools in Pocatello and later worked at Fargo's Dept. Store for many years. She was a member of the L.D.S. Church.

She married Elmer B. Christiansen in Logan, Utah. He passed away Nov. 7, 1977.

Her interests included toll painting, landscape painting, crocheting, cooking, fishing, camping and taking Sunday drives. She greatly enjoyed her family especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter Carol J. (William) Phillips, Pocatello, Idaho; grandchildren, S. Barton Phillips, BarJean Phillips and Bonita K. Phillips, 1 great-granddaughter, Daphne M. (Phillips) Mills and great-great-grandchildren, Zachary and Elizabeth. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister, and 2 brothers.

Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, with Bart Phillips, grandson, officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave.
