Geraldine Ellis Harvey

Geraldine Ellis Harvey (90) passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2020. She was a resident of The Ridge Cottonwood Assisted Living & Memory Care Center in Holladay, Utah.
Geraldine was born on July 29, 1929 in Pocatello, ID to Ernest Laroy Ellis, Sr. and Alice Mae Banyard Ellis. She was the third of seven children. She grew up in Pocatello and graduated in 1948 from Pocatello high school along with her sister Jean and her future husband, Richard Clarence Harvey.
Traveling and living from ocean to ocean was to be in Geraldine’s future after she married Richard. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on September 10, 1953. From making their home in Salt Lake City they went on to live in the San Francisco bay area for over 20 years; Gainesville, Florida; Yigo, Guam; and then to Grand Junction, Colorado. They returned to Utah in 2018.  Geraldine and Richard also served a mission together for the Church in Baltimore, Maryland. Although she traveled far and wide she was always adamant to let people know she was from Idaho.
Geraldine’s energy levels were legendary. She was always on the go, looking for things to do and people to invigorate by her desire to share her enthusiasm for life. Her favorite pass-times were keeping in touch with her family and her extended family, exercising, baking bread and sewing. She spent her earthly life serving in a myriad of callings in many different wards and stakes of the Church wherever she lived. She gave all she had to everything she did.
Geraldine is survived by her husband, Richard and their children James Arthur Harvey of Lewisburg, West Virginia; Rebecca Jean (Stanley Harvey) Carter of Queen Creek, Arizona; Merri Alice (Kurt Bryce) Shipley of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Shawn Richard (Angelyn Stewart) Harvey of Gunnison, Colorado; also daughter-in-law Linda Sue Coppage (David) White of Commerce, Georgia. She was also blessed with 28 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and many other extended family members. Survivors also include her brother Paul Arthur (Barbara Rae Kuhn) Ellis of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and her sister Nancy (Daniel) Anthony of Pocatello, Idaho.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Gloria (Robert Gordon) Stedtfeld; Ernest Laroy (Mary Artella Cook) Ellis, Jr.; Jean (Harold Bingham) Thomas; Donald James (Ina Jo Moore) Ellis; as well as her son Mark Ellis Harvey and grandson Gregory Arthur Palmer.
