Pocatello- Gerald Glen Tillotson, 65, passed away Monday, January 3, 2011 at his home following a sudden illness. He was born February 22, 1945 in Pocatello, Idaho, the son of Kenneth Glen and Annie Myrl Thornton Tillotson.
He attended school at Emerson Elementary, Irving Jr. High and Pocatello High School. He was a member of one of the first Cub Scout Packs in Pocatello and his mother was the Den Mother. When he was a Scout ,they spent time at Scout Camp at Camp Lemhi clearing brush, making trails and campsites as the camp had just been started.
He married Sylvia Brown July 5, 1966 in Malad, Idaho. They were later divorced. He married Joleen Potter August 25, 1981 in Pocatello, Idaho. He was a member of the L.D.S. Church.
He enjoyed working on both of his grandparents farms in Virginia and Malad Divide. He started working in housekeeping at St. Anthony Hospital and later in building maintained at St. Anthony and Pocatello Regional Medical Center. He served in the Army National Guard of Idaho and received his training at Fort Ord, California. He liked people and especially caring for those who needed help and assistance. He loved animals, particularly dogs. He loved his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife Joleen Tillotson, Pocatello, Idaho; two sons, Johnny Tillotson, Boise, Idaho; Steven (Debra) Tillotson, Pocatello, Idaho; two step daughters, Terri Lee Collins, Burton, South Caroline; Nicki Kathleen (Scott) Sintay, Richland, Washington; one brother, Michael W. (Brenda) Tillotson, Pocatello, Idaho; two sisters, Joan (Vaughn) Chatterton, Pocatello, Idaho; Linda (Warren) Holloway, Rigby, Idaho; 2 grandchildren, Brittaney, Nathaniel; 1 great grandchildren, Addilee; seven step grandchildren; He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Alameda L.D.S. 9th Ward Chapel (1440 Lakeview Drive) with Bishop Richard S. Burgoyne of the Alameda 9th Ward officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave. and on Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens with Military Rites provided by the Pocatello Veterans Honor Guard. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel.
