Gerald Jones

Pocatello-Gerald Jones, 86, of Pocatello passed away June 6, 2012 at a local care center. He was born January 2, 1926, in Pocatello, Idaho, the son of Jacob Wilber and Gladys Mason Green Jones.

He married Agnes Catherine Hagler on September 13, 1945 in Pocatello, Idaho. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He served in the U.S. Navy in the Asiatic Pacific area during World War II.

He retied with 43 years of service from the Union Pacific Railroad. He was a lifetime bowler on many Pocatello leagues. He was an author of many short stories and kept a personal journal. He enjoyed golfing with friends and traveling with friends and family. He has left a legacy of paintings and sketches for his family enjoyment. As a young man, he enjoyed fishing and camping. He greatly enjoyed reading in his later years.

Gerald is survived by his loving wife, Agnes Catherine Jones; a son Jerry David (Linda) Jones; two daughters, Marilyn K. (Wayde) Warner; Teresa Gail (Martin) Rasmussen; all of Pocatello, Idaho. 9 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 1 great- great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters, 5 brothers.

Funeral services will he held Monday, June 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m., at Alameda 5th Ward Chapel (1440 Lakeview Drive) with Bishop Lynn Buckley officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave. and on Monday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Mountainview Cemetery with Military Rites provided by the Pocatello Veterans Honor Guard.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel.
